BREAKING: A 37-year-old man from Sunbury was arrested for allegedly driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .253, more than five times over the legal limit, following a series of alarming reports about his erratic driving. The incident unfolded on Saturday, November 1, 2023, around 7 PM along the Calder Highway.
Authorities received multiple calls reporting a white ute driving dangerously, prompting police to take immediate action. Officers successfully intercepted the vehicle in Elphinstone, where they conducted a preliminary breath test on the driver. After returning to the station for a more comprehensive evidentiary test, the shocking BAC reading of .253 was confirmed.
As a result of this reckless behavior, the driver’s license was revoked on the spot, and the vehicle has been impounded for 30 days. The driver will also face substantial costs amounting to $1,874 for the impoundment.
