BREAKING: The body of a 25-year-old woman has been recovered from the ocean near Maroubra Beach, Sydney, following a tragic incident early Thursday morning. Emergency responders were alerted at 4am after reports indicated that a wave had struck the woman, knocking her into a rock pool and subsequently pulling her into the sea.
Authorities swiftly arrived at the scene, and a search operation was initiated, involving a police helicopter and multiple NSW ambulance paramedics. Tragically, the woman’s body was located around 5am, merely an hour after the emergency call was made. The deceased is yet to be formally identified, and a report will be submitted to the coroner as part of the investigation.
This incident follows another alarming event at Palm Beach on Wednesday, where a man died after his small boat capsized in rough waters, striking nearby rocks shortly after 12pm. A search is ongoing for a missing 14-year-old boy who was believed to be on board during the accident. Authorities confirmed that there were three individuals in the boat at the time, but their relationships remain unclear.
One man from the capsized boat was rescued with significant leg injuries after being found on a rock platform about 25 meters from the overturned vessel. He was airlifted by a rescue helicopter and treated at a nearby nature clearing.
With two tragic incidents occurring within a short span, the community is reeling from the loss and ongoing search efforts. Authorities are urging caution for beachgoers as conditions remain hazardous.
