Urgent: Demolition Proposal for Two Rocks Tavern Bottle Shop

UPDATE: A major development is underway as the City of Wanneroo has opened public comments on the proposed demolition of the former Two Rocks Tavern bottle shop and caretaker’s dwelling located at 20 Enterprise Ave. This demolition, affecting a site that has been largely abandoned since 2009, is poised to reshape the local landscape.

The development application was officially submitted, revealing plans to not only remove the dilapidated structures but also to enhance the area with grass and irrigation, while preserving two palm trees. Public feedback is being accepted from September 13, 2025, through September 27, 2025, making this an urgent opportunity for community input.

According to a heritage impact statement prepared by Griffiths Architects, the condition of the bottle shop and caretaker’s quarters has significantly deteriorated. The report notes that the buildings are in an “advanced state of decay,” with structural issues that are unsuitable for the marine environment.

“Regrettably, the loss of this building is inevitable,” the HIS states, emphasizing that the buildings have not been in use for over a decade and have been allowed to fall into disrepair. The surrounding area, which has been described as a carpark, features a concrete unit paved pedestrian access spine, further highlighting the neglect of the site.

The HIS also addresses the historical context, pointing out that the bottle shop’s social value has diminished over the past 20 years. While the tavern itself will remain operational, the removal of the bottle shop is seen as a necessary step for site remediation.

“This demolition will not negatively affect the heritage significance of the registered place,” the HIS concludes, reassuring stakeholders about the broader implications of the project. The site falls within the Sun City precinct, which is recognized in the State Register of Heritage Places.

As the deadline for public comment approaches, local residents and stakeholders are encouraged to voice their opinions on this significant change. The outcome could influence future development plans in the area, making this not just a local issue, but a matter of community interest.

Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops and community responses unfold. This is an opportunity to engage with the future of Two Rocks and its heritage.
