Most of the night we thought our house was gone,” Bonnie shared. Fortunately, their home remains intact, but the couple is devastated over their cafe’s loss. “We’re just grateful that we got out, everybody’s safe,” she added, emphasizing the strong community support they’ve received during this crisis.
Despite a forecast of milder weather for Sunday, the danger is not over. Senior meteorologist Dean Narramore from the Bureau of Meteorology warns that shifting winds could pose new threats to residents in the northern areas of fire zones. “Unfortunately, there is really no rain on the way for at least the next five to seven days,” he stated in an update.
CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan acknowledged that while conditions have improved, the fight against the fires is far from over. “Understand how the increased fire risk will impact you and ensure your fire plan covers all possible contingencies,” he advised residents.
