BREAKING: The Koorda Agricultural Society has just confirmed a remarkable yield of 1.7 tonnes per hectare from its recently harvested Vixen wheat crop, securing vital funds for the pivotal 2025 Koorda Show. This community-driven initiative, which spanned 200 hectares just five kilometers west of Koorda, showcases the strength of local collaboration in supporting a cherished annual event.
Society secretary Kim Storer emphasized the significance of the Koorda Show, a cornerstone of community life since the 1930s, stating, “The annual cropping program once again demonstrated the strength of community collaboration.” With this crop’s success, the organization is looking ahead with renewed confidence and commitment to enhancing the show experience for families.
The initiative was made possible through generous contributions from local families, including the Nicholls, Fuchsbichler, Lego, Inman, Greaves, Storer, and Jones families, who provided essential seed and fertilizer. Additionally, AFGRI Equipment in Dalwallinu played a vital role by supplying machinery for both the seeding and harvesting processes.
Storer noted, “Thanks to the generosity of a local farmer who leased several acres just outside town, the society was able to plant its 2025 crop with confidence.” The favorable growing conditions throughout the season led to a seamless and efficient harvest, completed in just a few days, which she attributed to meticulous planning and the expertise of local farmers and agricultural businesses.
The financial boost from this crop is crucial for maintaining the accessibility of the Koorda Show. Storer highlighted that proceeds will ensure free entry for all children under the age of 16, along with complimentary rides and entertainment for families. “This ensures the show remains accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for the whole community,” she added.
As the committee gears up for the 2026 Koorda Show, Storer expressed gratitude towards the Shire of Koorda for its generous financial support over the past two years. She remarked, “This backing, alongside the efforts of farmers, businesses, and volunteers, reinforces what can be achieved when a community works together.”
The Koorda Agricultural Society’s annual cropping program is more than just a fundraising exercise; it is a testament to Koorda’s resilience, cooperation, and commitment to fostering a strong and vibrant future for generations to come. As plans for the next show unfold, the community stands united, ready to celebrate their agricultural heritage and collective spirit.
