BREAKING NEWS: A series of traffic incidents have sent emergency services into overdrive in New South Wales, with a serious crash reported near Windellama just after 2:45 PM today, January 1, 2026. A man in his fifties has been hospitalized following a head-on collision between two 4WD vehicles on Spa Road.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene near the intersection of Nerrimunga Creek Road, where one driver was trapped inside the wreckage. Quick action from the NSW Ambulance, local police, and volunteer rescue teams helped free the injured man, who was subsequently transported to Goulburn Base Hospital with chest injuries. Three other individuals at the scene were assessed but did not require hospitalization.
Shortly after this incident, at approximately 6:30 PM, emergency services were alerted to another crash—a car rollover on the southbound lane of the Hume Highway near Marulan. The rollover occurred just 2 kilometers south of Jerrara Road, leading to lane closures and significant traffic delays as responders managed the situation.
These incidents follow a single-vehicle crash on Caves Track, Wombeyan Caves Road, that occurred on December 31, 2025. In that case, occupants were able to self-extricate and did not require medical assistance.
Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution while on rural roads, particularly as conditions may change rapidly with ongoing emergency responses.
As this situation continues to unfold, motorists are advised to avoid the affected areas and seek alternate routes until the scene is cleared. Stay tuned for further updates as emergency services remain on high alert.
