Urgent Search for Missing Catamaran Off NSW Coast—Two Men Aboard

URGENT UPDATE: A multi-agency search is actively underway off the coast of New South Wales after an 8.4-metre catamaran, the Mangrove Jack, with two men aboard went missing during its journey from Yamba to Southport. The vessel departed Yamba Harbour at 8am on September 27 and was due to arrive in Southport by 5pm, but it never reached its destination.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:20pm, prompting an extensive search operation involving multiple agencies. Police sources confirm that the search is being coordinated by the Marine Area Command, with support from Tweed-Byron Police, Police Rescue, Polair, Marine Rescue NSW, Queensland Police, Marine Rescue QLD, Surf Lifesaving NSW, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

Search crews are currently combing the waters and coastline, employing every available resource in an effort to locate the missing boat and its occupants. The situation remains critical, with officials urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.
