Urgent Search for Missing Diabetic Camper Enters Day Five

UPDATE: The search for missing diabetic camper Troy Milne has entered its fifth day, raising urgent concerns for his safety. The 61-year-old man vanished on an errand while camping with his wife at a caravan park in Woodside Beach, southeast of Melbourne, on October 7, 2023.

Family members are “deeply concerned” for Milne’s welfare as police continue to investigate sightings across several locations, including Sale, Bairnsdale, Omeo, and Swifts Creek. His last confirmed sighting occurred at approximately 5:30 PM when he drove away from the campsite.

According to Victoria Police, Milne was spotted at a store in Sale about 40 minutes later. His vehicle, a 2007 silver and black Jeep Wrangler with registration XPZ-342, was captured on CCTV at 9:18 AM the next morning in Bairnsdale. Investigators believe he made a purchase at a service station in Omeo around 12:46 PM on October 8, where staff reported he seemed “lost and confused.”

A police spokeswoman stated, “The last known sighting of Troy’s vehicle was captured on CCTV as he travelled south through Swifts Creek on the Great Alpine Road at 1:03 PM.” With Milne being an insulin-dependent diabetic, authorities emphasize the urgency of the situation. “Without any medication, it is expected Troy would be confused and likely unaware that he is having a medical episode,” she added.

Despite extensive efforts from law enforcement, there have been no additional sightings of Milne or his vehicle since that day. Victoria Police has released images of Milne and his Jeep, urging anyone with information to contact triple-0 or Sale Police.

Milne is described as being 193 cm tall, with a medium to solid build and scars on his forehead. He was last seen wearing a white singlet, grey Everlast jumper, track pants, and black thongs.

As the search continues, authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating Milne. The family remains hopeful for his safe return but is increasingly worried about his health and well-being as each hour passes.
