Urgent Search Underway After Boat Capsizes, Man Dead, Teen Missing

BREAKING: A man has died, and a teenage boy is missing following a tragic boat capsize near Palm Beach in Sydney. Emergency crews responded urgently after the incident occurred in rough conditions around 11:35 AM on New Year’s Eve.

Authorities confirm that a man was recovered from the water by Surf Life Saving members but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. Eyewitnesses reported a swift multi-agency response, with locals watching as rescue operations commenced to locate a 14-year-old boy believed to have been a passenger on the boat.

A statement from NSW Police confirmed, “A search operation has commenced – with assistance from Marine Area Command, PolAir, and Marine Rescue NSW – to locate the missing teenager.”

In a fortunate turn, a second man managed to reach safety by climbing onto nearby rocks before being airlifted by a Toll Ambulance rescue helicopter. He is currently receiving treatment from paramedics.

The urgency of the situation has prompted police to solicit any information from the public. Anyone with details related to the incident is urged to contact Northern Beaches police or reach out to Crime Stoppers.

This tragic event has shaken the local community, highlighting the risks associated with boating in adverse weather conditions. As search efforts continue, the emotional toll on families and friends of those involved is palpable.
