Urgent Traffic Alert: Mitchell Freeway Reduced to One Lane

URGENT UPDATE: Traffic on the Mitchell Freeway is now reduced to one lane due to a significant police incident just after 9:00 AM today, October 15, 2023. This disruption has left motorists stuck for up to 40 minutes between Glendalough Station and Cedric Street, with backups extending as far as Leederville.

Emergency services are scrambling this weekend, responding to multiple fatal crashes across Western Australia. Authorities have closed off sections of the freeway near Stirling Station as police manage traffic flow, redirecting vehicles onto side roads into Innaloo. Motorists are advised to take the Powis Street exit to avoid further delays.

As reported by WAtoday, emergency crews including St John’s Ambulance and police are on site, working to clear the area. The situation has escalated, with reports of another tragic incident over the weekend involving a fatal crash in Miling, resulting in the deaths of two men. Officers responded to this crash in the early hours of Saturday, highlighting a grim weekend on WA roads.

Authorities urge all drivers to remain patient and stay updated on road conditions. Traffic management is in place, but significant delays are expected to continue throughout the day. Stay tuned for further updates as this developing situation unfolds.
