Urgent Update: 12-Year-Old Girl Stabs Foster Carer, Charged

BREAKING: A 12-year-old girl has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her 55-year-old foster carer and stealing a vehicle in an attempt to visit an equine therapy center. This shocking incident occurred in Augustine Heights, located west of Brisbane, prompting urgent police response.

Emergency services were alerted on Sunday when the victim was discovered with a serious stab wound to her chest. She has since been transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she is reported to be in serious but stable condition. The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared via videolink during her bail application at Ipswich Children’s Court on Wednesday.

The court has ordered a mental health assessment for the girl, which has yet to be completed, delaying the decision on her bail. Magistrate Dennis Kinsella emphasized the need for this assessment after hearing the prosecutor outline the severity of the charges.

According to police, the girl allegedly inflicted significant suffering on her foster carer, with the prosecutor stating, “The charges are serious. The evidence is strong. There is CCTV footage available.” The girl was apprehended in the stolen vehicle, raising further concerns about her actions.

This case raises critical questions about the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and their caregivers. As the court deliberates on the next steps, authorities are focused on ensuring justice for the victim and understanding the circumstances that led to this alarming incident.
