Urgent Update: Driver Dies in Fatal West Wodonga Crash

UPDATE: A tragic crash in West Wodonga has left one driver dead, prompting an urgent police investigation. Emergency services responded to the scene on Plunketts Road shortly after 7 PM on August 12, where a car reportedly collided with a tree.

The driver, who has yet to be formally identified, succumbed to injuries at the scene. Local authorities have confirmed that Plunketts Road is closed between McKoy Street and the Hume Freeway as the investigation continues. A police spokesperson stated, “The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established.”

This incident marks a concerning trend on Victorian roads, where 183 lives have already been lost this year, compared to 177 at the same point in 2024.
