UPDATE: A stunning mural has just been unveiled at the Darlington Point War Memorial Swimming Pool, transforming its appearance just in time for Christmas. This vibrant artwork, completed by renowned street artist Jordan Lucky, showcases the area’s rich biodiversity, featuring native wildlife and flora that celebrate the local environment.
The mural includes depictions of significant species such as the vulnerable Superb Parrot, Crimson Yellow Rosella, and Dollarbird. It also highlights local plants like wildflowers and Golden Wattles, creating a spectacular focal point that enhances community pride and tourism appeal in Darlington Point.
Mayor Ruth McRae OAM expressed excitement over the mural’s completion, stating, “The pool is a much-loved destination for locals and visitors.” She emphasized that free entry to the pool is a significant attraction for families and travelers alike.
In an unexpected twist, the pool will remain open on Christmas Day, inviting patrons to join a relaxed group lunch from 1 PM to 2 PM. The community can also look forward to a lively pool party featuring a giant inflatable on 7 January 2026, promising a fun-filled summer day for everyone.
The mural project was made possible by the generous support of an anonymous donor, further highlighting the community’s commitment to enhancing local spaces. Mayor McRae urged residents and visitors alike to experience the new mural and enjoy the festive atmosphere at the pool during the holiday season.
This artistic addition not only beautifies the swimming pool area but also strengthens local identity, making it a must-see destination in the lead-up to Christmas. As the community comes together to celebrate, this mural is poised to become a symbol of pride and joy in Darlington Point.
