Ariel Winter, known for her role as Alex Dunphy on the beloved sitcom *Modern Family*, has expressed her willingness to revisit the character in a potential revival. The 27-year-old actress, who portrayed Alex from 2009 until the series concluded in 2020, shared her thoughts during an interview with E! News.
“I’d definitely be open to it,” Winter stated. “But that’s not up to me. That’s up to the powers that be. If they want to hit me up, they can hit me up.” This openness to a reunion has sparked interest among fans of the show, many of whom have cherished the dynamics of the Dunphy family over the years.
A New Chapter for Alex Dunphy
Reflecting on what she would like to see from Alex, Winter emphasized the character’s diverse interests. “Alex had so many different interests. They were all extremely educational, smart, and amazing interests,” she noted. Winter hopes that if she returns, Alex will have evolved in meaningful ways. “I hope now that she’s found herself totally in the way that she would want to and put some effort into finding her heart and what she loves personally, because she’s already achieved so much professionally.”
While the idea of a *Modern Family* revival is tantalizing, Winter is also focused on her current projects. She recently starred in the film *Pools*, which marks a significant shift from her previous roles. The film follows a character named Kennedy, whose life unravels after the sudden death of her father. “I was just looking to do something new and different and play a completely different character from what I had been doing,” Winter explained. “This was really that. It got sent to me and I was like, ‘Alright, I think if this is done right, this could be really, really fun.’”
Emotional Farewell to the Cast
Despite her excitement for new opportunities, Winter has acknowledged the emotional challenges of leaving *Modern Family*. The cast, which included notable actors such as Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, and Sofia Vergara, felt like a real family to her. “It was hard,” Winter shared with *People*. “We were like a real family. It was weird knowing it would just be over, and I wouldn’t get to see everybody all the time anymore.”
As *Modern Family* wrapped up, Winter found it difficult to accept that she would no longer see her co-stars regularly. “It was like, wait, yeah, wait, we’re not going to be together on Monday?” she recalled. While she was reluctant to say goodbye, she also felt ready to embrace new challenges as an adult.
As fans await any news of a revival, Ariel Winter remains focused on her evolving career, balancing nostalgia with new artistic ventures. Whether she returns to the role that made her a household name or continues to explore different characters, her journey in the entertainment industry is just beginning.
