Macedon Ranges Seniors Festival Kicks Off with Free Events!

URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated Victorian Seniors Festival is officially underway in the Macedon Ranges, offering a wealth of exciting activities for older residents throughout October. This month-long celebration, backed by the state government and local councils, is designed to honor the vital contributions of seniors and encourage active participation in community life.

Residents can look forward to an array of engaging events, including concerts, tours, social gatherings, and cultural experiences—all conveniently accessible in their local area. The festival aims to create a vibrant atmosphere where seniors can connect, celebrate, and enjoy enriching experiences close to home.

Key events scheduled include:
– **Bendigo Talking Tram and Art Gallery Tour** – Wednesday, October 1
– **Castlemaine Concert** – Thursday, October 9
– **Dromkeen Gallery High Tea** – Friday, October 17
– **MCG Tour and Sports Museum** – Monday, October 27

Most activities provide complimentary pick-up and drop-off services across the shire, making it even easier for seniors to participate. However, attendees for the Dromkeen Gallery High Tea will need to arrange their own transportation.

Macedon Ranges Council Mayor Dom Bonanno expressed enthusiasm for the festival, stating, “Seniors play such a vital role in our communities and have most likely volunteered or contributed to our community over the years. This festival is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate them. It’s a great opportunity to get out and meet new people or enjoy a day out with friends.”

Bookings are essential for all events. Interested residents can secure their spots by contacting VillageConnect at [email protected] or calling 5422 0333.

This festival not only fosters community spirit but also highlights the importance of engaging older residents in meaningful activities. As the month progresses, more exciting events will unfold, inviting seniors to explore, connect, and enjoy the unique offerings of the Macedon Ranges.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to celebrate our seniors! Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to share this news with friends and family. For additional details about the festival, visit https://www.mrsc.vic.gov.au/Live-Work/Older-People/Seniors-Festival-2025.
