Malaysia and Zetrix AI Launch Global Shariah-Compliant AI Standards

UPDATE: In a groundbreaking move for ethical technology, Malaysia has just announced a partnership with Zetrix AI Berhad to establish global standards for Shariah-compliant artificial intelligence. The agreement, signed on September 13, 2025, aims to create a comprehensive framework for certification and governance in AI, marking a significant step towards integrating Islamic values into advanced technologies.

The ceremony, witnessed by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, signifies Malaysia’s commitment to leading the charge in ethical AI development. The nation, recognized as a pioneer in halal certification and the Islamic economy, is set to leverage its expertise to influence the global market, projected to reach USD 5.74 trillion by 2030.

This collaboration focuses on three key areas: developing ethical guidelines for AI systems that align with Islamic principles, promoting Malaysia as the epicenter of Islamic AI, and creating a trusted platform through JAKIM for halal certification and Shariah guidance. As Prime Minister Ibrahim emphasized, the integration of digitalization and AI must remain firmly grounded in Islamic values.

The partnership is particularly timely as the demand for AI systems that reflect diverse cultural and ethical perspectives grows. By introducing the world’s first Shariah-aligned Large Language Model, NurAi, Zetrix AI is pioneering a platform that not only adheres to religious principles but also addresses the urgent need for trustworthy AI solutions in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

With JAKIM at the helm, this initiative reinforces Malaysia’s status as a leader in halal technology, ensuring that AI remains secure, accountable, and representative of over 2 billion Muslims globally. The collaboration aims to combat misinformation and enhance compliance monitoring through advanced technologies like AI and blockchain.

As this initiative unfolds, it presents a unique opportunity for Malaysia to influence global standards for ethical AI. The country’s commitment to marrying technology with Islamic values sets a precedent that could reshape the future of AI and its applications across various sectors including finance, education, and law.

Stay tuned for more updates as Malaysia and Zetrix AI pave the way for a new era of Shariah-compliant artificial intelligence, poised to make a lasting impact on the global stage.
