Yellowbelly Band Rocks Wilcannia Golf Club This Friday Night!

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Yellowbelly Band is set to electrify the Wilcannia Golf Club this Friday, November 28, 2025, from 6 PM to 10 PM! This live performance promises to be an unforgettable night for music lovers in the region.

In an exclusive conversation with Wilcannia News, band member Kobie shared the band’s exciting journey, which began over a decade ago in Bourke. “I came back from Melbourne, and Stephen wanted me to meet a guy who played guitar and was a Catholic priest,” Kobie revealed. “I said I wasn’t into playing gospel. Turns out he’s a rock n roll Father.”

The band, featuring Stephen on vocals and rhythm guitar, Father Oche on lead guitar, Dwayne on drums, and Kobie on bass, has built a unique sound that resonates with audiences of all ages. Despite a significant age gap of nearly 30 years, the band members bond over their shared love for music, making their performances even more engaging.

Their journey took off this year when they opened for Fanny Lumsden in April. “We needed a drummer, and we had just met Dwayne, who hadn’t played for 8 years. We said, ‘Yeah nah, we’ll wing it!’” Kobie laughed. The band’s debut performance was at the Bourke Bowlo, and since then, they have played gigs every weekend, showcasing their talent at various venues including Eulo, Cobar, Lightning Ridge, and Brewarrina.

Their recent gig at Eulo attracted an impressive 400-500 attendees, proving that their popularity is on the rise. Fans are eager to see them perform live, and this Friday’s show is expected to draw a large crowd.

Don’t miss this chance to experience the vibrant energy of the Yellowbelly Band! Mark your calendars for this Friday at the Wilcannia Golf Club. The performance starts at 6 PM, with a break for raffles during the show.

As the band continues to grow and evolve, their story is a testament to the power of music in bringing people together. Get ready for a night of rock n roll that you won’t want to miss!
