Mavenir and TextNow Join Forces to Enhance 5G MVNO Services

Mavenir and TextNow have announced a significant partnership aimed at transforming the landscape of mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) in the United States. On February 24, 2026, the two companies revealed their collaboration to integrate Mavenir’s cloud-native mobile business support systems (BSS) and core technology into TextNow’s existing infrastructure. This move is expected to accelerate user onboarding and expand TextNow’s reach within the competitive market for free wireless services.

With a commitment to innovation, TextNow plans to utilize Mavenir’s technology to enhance its service offerings for over 8 million active users. The integration will support the management of sponsorship partners, facilitate roaming agreements, and enable the creation of independent SIM profiles, thereby enriching the user experience.

Tristan Huntington, Senior Vice President of Partnerships & Innovation at TextNow, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “TextNow has spent 17 years proving that wireless service can be free, can be supported by advertising, and can deliver a great experience on a nationwide 5G network.” He added that teaming up with Mavenir will provide TextNow with greater control over customer interactions and expedite the introduction of new features.

Enhancing Flexibility and Innovation

Mavenir’s modular cloud-native platform is designed to accommodate various MVNO models, enabling operators to launch sub-brands or introduce mobility to existing portfolios. Sandeep Singh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Business Solutions at Mavenir, highlighted the evolving nature of the MVNO market, stating, “The MVNO market continues to evolve as operators look to innovate and differentiate their offerings, but this is simply not possible without the flexibility and scale enabled by the underlying cloud-native platform.”

The partnership aims to transition MVNOs from “thin” models, which typically offer limited services, to “thick” models that allow for extensive service innovation. Mavenir’s technology offers essential features such as quality of service (QoS) segments, standalone 5G connectivity monetization, and Internet of Things (IoT) traffic management. This allows MVNOs to leverage a world-class BSS platform, paving the way for personalized customer experiences and optimized revenue streams.

Future Developments at Mobile World Congress

In conjunction with their partnership announcement, Mavenir will host a panel discussion at the upcoming Mobile World Congress on innovative strategies for MVNO growth. The panel, titled “Built for More, Bound by Less: The Rise of a New Breed of MNO Embracing AI, Cloud & 5G,” will explore how MVNOs can leverage cloud-native architectures and AI-driven insights to differentiate their services in a crowded marketplace.

The collaboration between Mavenir and TextNow underscores the potential for significant advancements in the MVNO sector, aiming to provide accessible and affordable wireless service to millions of users across the United States. With a focus on innovation, both companies are poised to redefine what free wireless connectivity can achieve.
