2025 .ORG Impact Awards Finalists Announced by PIR, Common to Host

UPDATE: The Public Interest Registry (PIR) has just announced the finalists for the highly anticipated 2025 .ORG Impact Awards, showcasing 35 innovative organizations selected from nearly 3,000 applicants worldwide. Philanthropist and activist Common will host the award ceremony, set to take place in Washington, D.C. on October 7, 2025.

This annual event recognizes outstanding mission-driven individuals and organizations making significant positive impacts across the globe. The finalists range from a women-led nonprofit transforming lives in East Africa to an organization recycling hair into environmental tools, and a .ORG utilizing AI to teach sign language throughout Latin America. Each finalist will receive a donation of $2,500 USD, with the prestigious .ORG of the Year winner set to receive $50,000 USD.

Jon Nevett, President and CEO of PIR, emphasized the importance of this event, stating,

“The .ORG Impact Awards continues to be one of the most meaningful initiatives we look forward to all year. These finalists represent the very best of our community — their dedication and impact embody the very spirit of the .ORG domain.”

Common, known for his contributions to arts and advocacy, expressed his excitement for the event, highlighting the transformative power of the finalists’ work. He stated,

“I’m passionate about making sure youth in the U.S. are able to see positive role models and pathways to achieve their dreams, especially those involved in the justice system.”

Common’s own nonprofit, Free to Dream, focuses on education, justice, wellness, and jobs, further underscoring his commitment to social change.

The finalists were selected across seven categories, including Community Building, Quality Education for All, Environmental Stewardship, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Health and Healing, Hunger and Poverty, and Rising Stars. Each category showcases the incredible work of organizations dedicated to creating a better world.

As the awards ceremony approaches, the spotlight will shine on these changemakers, who are not only making a difference locally but also setting examples globally. The event will culminate in an in-person celebration where winners will be announced, providing invaluable exposure for the organizations involved.
