A new café, Mintish Coffee House, is set to open this summer in the vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Located at 515 Harvard Ave. E, the coffee shop aims to celebrate Levantine culture through its menu and decor, offering a blend of regional flavors and a welcoming atmosphere.
Owner Mahoud Farajallah, along with partners Abdullah and Nano, is excited about launching their first brick-and-mortar establishment. “I’m really excited to open a space for everyone to come and try different foods and open a space where people can feel at home,” said Farajallah in an interview with What Now Seattle. His background as a barista has fueled his passion for coffee, and he views this venture as a culmination of his journey in the coffee industry.
The café’s theme is designed to evoke feelings of nostalgia and warmth. Farajallah described the experience he wants to create: “It’s like waking up to the aroma of mint in the morning and gathering with family over a warm cup of tea.” This sentiment reflects the heart of Mintish, aiming to provide a comforting and hospitable environment for all patrons.
Innovative Menu Combines Tradition and Flavor
Mintish Coffee House plans to offer a unique selection of beverages and food items that distinguish it from other local coffee shops. Among the highlights is the rose cardamom latte, a floral and subtly sweet drink infused with the warm, citrusy notes of cardamom and the delicate fragrance of rose. This specialty beverage is part of a broader effort to introduce customers to Levantine flavors.
Food offerings will include kunafa cheesecake, a personal favorite of Farajallah, alongside Dubai chocolate cheese, pistachio cookies, and a za’atar croissant. The kunafa cheesecake creatively combines a creamy cheesecake with a crispy shredded phyllo dough base, often soaked in a light sugar syrup. The za’atar croissant incorporates a traditional Middle Eastern blend of herbs and spices, which Farajallah believes will set Mintish apart in Seattle’s coffee scene.
“I think the most defining aspect of our menu is its uniqueness,” said Farajallah. “I haven’t seen that in Seattle.” His commitment to offering distinctive flavors is evident in the carefully curated selections meant to delight patrons.
While an exact opening date has not yet been finalized, Mintish Coffee House is aiming for a debut at the end of August 2023. As the café prepares to welcome its first visitors, it promises to be a refreshing addition to the local dining landscape, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of the Levant.
