A new food hall and bar will soon take the place of Sniper Alignment & Auto Service at 5510 W. Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles. Set to operate under a single operator, this yet-to-be-named venue will feature three cuisine counters, an ice cream shop, and a small bar. The project aims to enhance the dining options in the Mid-City area, according to documents submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department.
The establishment will encompass a total of 3,339 square feet of indoor space, paired with a 2,173-square-foot outdoor patio that can accommodate 122 seats. Plans indicate the inclusion of informal recreational features such as ping-pong and table games, while live entertainment and arcade machines will not be part of the offering. The venue will operate daily from 07:00 to 01:00.
The project is spearheaded by Robert Vinokur, founder and CEO of The Playhouse Group, known for various successful concepts including Linden & Dot and Mad Lab Coffee Roasters. With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment and hospitality sectors, Vinokur aims to create a vibrant multi-concept venue that appeals to both residents and visitors.
Support for the project was expressed during a public hearing in March 2024, where local residents and stakeholders highlighted its potential to activate the neighborhood. The new food hall is expected to provide more walkable dining and social options in the area.
Concerns regarding potential outdoor noise have been addressed with proposed mitigation measures. These include constructing a tall rear building to buffer sound, enhancing the area with greenery, and installing umbrellas alongside a retractable canopy. Such measures aim to create a comfortable environment for patrons while minimizing disruption to the surrounding community.
In addition to its innovative dining options, the development qualifies for the city’s Restaurant Beverage Program, which allows for the sale of alcohol. The project is currently awaiting final approval for its alcohol license from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
As planning progresses, the new food hall and bar promise to not only enrich the culinary landscape of Pico Boulevard but also contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the Mid-City neighborhood.
