SUV Crash Forces Temporary Closure of Mioposto Ravenna

Mioposto’s Ravenna location is temporarily shuttered following a dramatic incident where an SUV crashed into the bustling restaurant on the evening of July 4. A spokesperson for the Seattle Police Department confirmed that the vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of 35th Ave. NE and NE 55th St., colliding with the restaurant at approximately 20:20. Several diners were injured during the crash, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

The Seattle Fire Department assessed the situation and declared the building unsafe due to gasoline leaking from the vehicle. “The driver was evaluated on scene and determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” the police spokesperson stated. “The vehicle has been towed away, and the driver is expected to face significant fines in civil court.”

Community Support and Future Plans

Robyn Nielson, representing Mioposto, expressed gratitude for the community’s support during this challenging time. While there is no definitive timeline for the reopening of the Ravenna branch, Mioposto continues operations at its other locations in Mt. Baker, Admiral in West Seattle, and Mercer Island. A new venue is also slated to open this summer.

The upcoming Eastlake location, set to open in August, will be situated at 2501 Eastlake Ave. in the Liza building. This 2,200-square-foot space will boast a central pizza bar, a full-service bar, and a wraparound patio, enhancing the dining experience. “We are excited to open our fifth location in Eastlake and hope to include our Ravenna team in the launch,” Nielson told KING-TV.

Mioposto’s Legacy Continues

Founded in 2006, Mioposto was envisioned as a cozy date-night destination rooted in Italian culinary tradition. The restaurant prioritizes high-quality ingredients and has become a cherished neighborhood gathering spot. Despite the setback, Mioposto remains committed to its vision and is poised to continue its expansion. Efforts to reach Sound Restaurant Family, the group behind Mioposto as well as The Poodle Dog, The Hob Nob, and Knapp’s, for further comment have yet to yield a response.
