Daniel Bilip Confirms He Is Alive Amid False Death Rumors

Claims circulating on social media regarding the death of Papua New Guinea singer Daniel Bilip have been confirmed as false. The renowned musician, who is currently battling cancer, addressed the rumors directly, stating he is very much alive.

Recent Facebook posts have claimed that Bilip passed away, with one post from July 14, 2025, sharing an image of the artist alongside a message that read, “Our singer Daniel Bilip passed away today.” This led to an outpouring of condolences from fans, with one user expressing sorrow and stating, “Your sweet voices will still remain as memories to your lovely fans.”

Bilip’s Response to the Rumors

In a response to AAP FactCheck, Bilip dismissed the claims as “fake news.” He reiterated his status on July 22, stating through Facebook, “Fake news bro.” The musician also addressed the issue on his own Facebook page, criticizing those who spread misinformation for the sake of gaining “a few likes and shares.”

Bilip, who has been open about his struggle with tongue cancer, discussed his diagnosis in a Post Courier article published in April. The newspaper highlighted the impact of these false rumors, with Bilip stating they had caused “great pain.” The Post Courier also noted that the misinformation had spread across various platforms, including WhatsApp and TikTok.

Bilip’s Career and Ongoing Battle

The musician has been a significant figure in the PNG music industry for nearly two decades. He was recognized as the joint artist of the year at the YumiFM PNG Music Awards for 2021/2022. Earlier this month, Bilip shared a poignant message about his ongoing battle with cancer, posting two photos depicting his physical decline. He wrote in New Guinea Pidgin, “I’m not scared and ashamed to share with you all my pain, fight and transformation. This is what cancer did to me within months. I am still in the middle of my fight. Thank you all for your support, prayers and well wishes.”
