Variety WA’s 4WD Adventure Set for Unique Pilbara Trek

Variety 4WD.

The annual 4WD Adventure organized by Variety — the Children’s Charity WA is gearing up to take participants on a distinctive journey through the Pilbara region from May 23 to May 31, 2024. The event is already nearing capacity, with over 20 vehicles registered, as it promises an exceptional blend of off-road challenges, medical support, and unique experiences in some of Western Australia’s most remote landscapes.

This year’s adventure, titled “Pilbara to Paradise,” offers a completely new route, taking participants deep into the Pilbara and Ashburton regions. The journey begins in Karratha and traverses scenic locations such as Millstream Chichester National Park, the Onslow coastline, the historic old Onslow township, Bullara Station, and concludes at Coral Bay. Participants will also gain exclusive access to working pastoral stations along the way, providing a rare glimpse into areas typically off-limits to the public.

Chris Chatterton, CEO of Variety WA, highlighted the significance of the event, noting that last year’s 4WD Adventure successfully raised over $250,000. This funding supported four Western Australian schools and provided more than $20,000 in direct grants for educational needs. Chatterton expressed enthusiasm for this year’s expedition, stating, “This year’s 4WD Adventure is a true expedition into parts of Western Australia most people will never see. The scale of the landscape, the remoteness, and the access we’ve been granted elevate it well beyond a traditional 4WD trip.”

The Pilbara region demands careful planning and a respectful approach to its vastness, which Chatterton believes makes this adventure particularly compelling.

Entry fees for the event are set at $330 per vehicle, with a participation fee of $1,850 per person. This fee covers meals, entertainment, overnight camping, and necessary support services. Participants are also required to meet minimum fundraising targets, which are tax-deductible and range from $4,000 for newcomers to $6,000 for returning drivers.

Registrations and inquiries for this unique adventure are currently open at varietywa4wd.com.au. With limited spots available, those interested are encouraged to secure their place soon to join this extraordinary journey that combines adventure and purpose.
