A shooting outside The Harold Hotel in Forest Lodge, Sydney, has resulted in the death of one man and serious injuries to another. The incident occurred on October 20, 2023, at approximately 18:40 local time, prompting immediate police response to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found two men who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims had been targeted by unknown assailants who fled the scene in a vehicle. Despite the efforts of paramedics, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man received urgent medical attention before being transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
New South Wales Police have cordoned off a section of Ross Street as they launch a manhunt for the perpetrators. Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that could aid in the search.
Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud gunshots, initially mistaking them for fireworks. A local resident, identified as Imogen, described the chaos she witnessed. “I saw some people running across the road, away from where the sound was coming from,” she said. “It hasn’t quite hit me yet. My family had just arrived at mine maybe ten minutes earlier, so to think they were walking at the same time is a bit scary.”
Another resident, Ivan, confirmed the number of shots fired, stating, “There was probably eight to ten gunshots, and then a pause, and then another half dozen maybe.” His companion, Charlotte, noted that the man who was taken to the hospital was conscious during treatment. “He’d been shot multiple times, maybe six times,” she explained, detailing injuries to the neck, chest, abdomen, arms, and legs.
As police continue their investigation, they remain focused on gathering evidence and identifying the suspects involved in this violent incident. The community is left shaken, grappling with the aftermath of this tragic event.
Authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the case to contact the New South Wales Police.
