In the ongoing 80th Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, the first five boats have rounded the Tasman Peninsula, with Master Lock Comanche currently in the lead. As the competition intensifies, the yachts are expected to slow down as they approach the River Derwent, with the finish anticipated later tonight.
Leading Pack Competes for Line Honours
The race is shaping up to be a thrilling contest as the leading supermaxis push towards Hobart. Master Lock Comanche holds a narrow lead over LawConnect and Scallywag, who have been exchanging positions frequently over the past two days. Trailing just behind are Lucky and Palm Beach XI, remaining within striking distance of the front-runners.
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia Vice Commodore, David Jacobs, commented on the tight competition, stating, “We’ve had five boats essentially match racing all the way down the coast since pretty much Sydney Heads. It’s been extraordinary and it’s going to be an extraordinary finish.” He added that while Master Lock Comanche is leading, the outcome remains uncertain.
