The second series of the Innovative Industries of the Future (IIF) event series was officially launched by Regional Development and Science and Innovation Minister Stephen Dawson. This initiative aims to build anticipation for the major conference scheduled for October 27-28, 2026, in Bunbury, Western Australia. The IIF series will focus on the emerging trends and technologies that are poised to shape the future of industries and job markets in the region.
Bunbury, in partnership with the South West Development Commission, will again serve as a focal point for discussions on innovative industries. The upcoming conference follows the inaugural event held in November 2024, which addressed global trends and the evolving economic landscape. The previous conference attracted government leaders, international delegates, investors, entrepreneurs, and academic experts who engaged in comprehensive discussions on topics such as advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, and international collaborations.
The strong interest from stakeholders has paved the way for the continuation of the IIF series. Interested organizations and individuals can now submit expressions of interest to participate in the 2026 conference. More information is available at iifconference.com.au.
Strengthening Regional Innovation
Minister Stephen Dawson emphasized the importance of innovation beyond metropolitan areas, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit present in regional Western Australia. He stated, “Innovation is not just taking place in the metro area, we have innovative and entrepreneurial communities and businesses across regional WA. They are leading the way in diversifying our economy and job creation.”
Dawson underscored the significance of hosting a major conference like IIF in regional areas, as it showcases the potential for innovation and development outside urban centers. He expressed enthusiasm for the continuity of the IIF series, commending the event partners for facilitating these important discussions.
South West Minister Don Punch also welcomed the return of the IIF series to Bunbury, noting its expansion from a single conference to a comprehensive program that highlights industry opportunities. Punch remarked, “This series also provides local communities with the chance to learn from industry leaders, connect with like-minded peers in business and leadership, and contribute to the local economy.”
The IIF series represents a significant opportunity for local communities, offering a platform for networking and knowledge sharing that can benefit businesses and venues across the region.
As anticipation builds for the 2026 conference, the IIF event series aims to continue fostering discussions that drive innovation and economic growth, ensuring that the voices of regional industries are heard and celebrated.
