MLB’s Final Four: Blue Jays, Mariners, Dodgers, and Brewers Clash

The stage is set for an exhilarating conclusion to the 2025 Major League Baseball postseason. Starting on October 15, 2025, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners will face off in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) in Toronto. The next day, the defending champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, will compete against the top-seeded Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS). Each of these teams is just a few wins away from competing in the World Series.

The Mariners secured their spot in the ALCS by defeating the Detroit Tigers in a dramatic Game 5 of the American League Division Series (ALDS) on October 13. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays advanced by overcoming their AL East rivals, the New York Yankees, in a swift three-game sweep. In the NL, the Dodgers eliminated the Philadelphia Phillies, while the Brewers edged past the Chicago Cubs to claim their spot.

Dodgers and Brewers: A Clash of Titans

This marks the second time the Brewers have faced the Dodgers in the NLCS, the first being a seven-game series loss in 2018. Since beginning their competitive run in 2017, only the Dodgers have recorded more regular-season wins in the National League than Milwaukee. Yet, despite their impressive performance, the Brewers have struggled to convert their playoff appearances into a World Series title, facing elimination by the Dodgers on two occasions.

Despite being labeled as underdogs, the Brewers enter this series without significant concerns. They boast a young and athletic roster, capable of handling the pressure of postseason play. The Dodgers, however, are known for their postseason prowess, having displayed remarkable talent in their recent games against the Phillies. As noted by ESPN analyst Jeff Passan, the Dodgers have shown a knack for thriving in high-pressure situations, which could pose a challenge for Milwaukee.

Los Angeles has an estimated 48.2% chance of advancing, while Milwaukee sits at 51.8%. The Brewers’ recent performance against the Cubs showcased their offensive power, particularly with their bullpen featuring pitchers capable of throwing at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Such velocity could prove crucial against a Dodgers lineup that has demonstrated their ability to punish opposing pitchers.

Blue Jays and Mariners: A Historic Showdown

The ALCS matchup between the Blue Jays and Mariners is particularly significant, as both franchises have long histories without a World Series title. Toronto last claimed the championship in 1992, while Seattle has yet to win it. This series represents a historic opportunity for both teams, with star players like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for the Blue Jays and Julio Rodriguez for the Mariners leading the charge.

The Blue Jays have an impressive 55.1% chance of advancing to the World Series, bolstered by their recent performance against the Yankees, where their lineup proved relentless. Guerrero Jr. has been a standout performer, and contributions from other players like Daulton Varsho and Ernie Clement have further strengthened their offense. The Blue Jays have thrived at home, scoring 431 runs at Rogers Centre during the regular season, making their home-field advantage a critical factor against Seattle.

In contrast, the Mariners have a 44.9% chance of advancing, with their success largely hinging on their starting rotation’s ability to deliver quality innings. The addition of Bryan Woo, who is expected to return from injury, could elevate their performance further. The Mariners have shown depth in their lineup, with a mix of power hitters and effective base runners.

As the series approaches, each team will need to capitalize on its strengths while addressing potential weaknesses. The performance of key players will likely determine the outcomes, and fans can expect a thrilling battle as the final four teams vie for a coveted spot in the World Series.
