Epic Games has officially announced that the highly anticipated Fortnite crossover with The Simpsons will commence on March 16, 2024. A new trailer reveals an in-game event set to begin at 11:00 AM ET, during which servers will temporarily go offline for several hours. The crossover will officially launch with a mini-season starting around 5:00 PM ET.
The trailer features the iconic drooling aliens, Kang and Kodos, who hover above a desolate landscape, blasting their lasers before abducting two players. The crossover promises to deliver a unique gaming experience, drawing players back into Fortnite’s Blitz Royale mode for a weekend filled with dynamic gameplay.
What to Expect from the Simpsons Mini-Season
Leaks suggest that players can look forward to a standalone map inspired by Springfield. This will replace the current setting, Oninoshima, from Chapter 6. Notable locations from The Simpsons, such as the Nuclear Power Plant and Springfield Town Hall, will be part of this new map. A glowing countdown timer has appeared, heightening anticipation for the event.
Among the elements expected in the mini-season is Bart’s treehouse, which recently emerged near Creepy Camps. Players will be able to explore this location, where a crackling TV displays scenes from the beloved show. The leaked details indicate that the new map may be slightly smaller than standard Battle Royale maps, potentially affecting player counts.
New Features and Gameplay Mechanics
According to reliable leakers, the loot pool will include classic weapons such as the SCAR and the Thunder shotgun from Chapter 4. Players will also need to navigate falling donuts that can cause damage upon contact, adding a whimsical yet challenging twist to gameplay.
“If usually reliable leakers are to be believed, the Simpsons mini-season will last a month before Chapter 7 starts on a brand new island,”
This collaboration is expected to feature new Battle Pass skins, catchphrases, and jokes from The Simpsons. It also presents an opportunity for Epic Games to experiment with gameplay, particularly by addressing some underperforming weapons, including SMGs.
As the gaming community eagerly awaits this crossover event, it remains clear that the combination of Fortnite and The Simpsons has the potential to deliver an entertaining experience for fans of both franchises.
