Oppo Unveils Nearly Invisible Fold in Find N6 Ahead of March Launch

Oppo has showcased its upcoming Find N6 foldable smartphone, revealing what it describes as an almost imperceptible display crease. This announcement comes as the company ramps up production ahead of the device’s official launch in March 2024. Selected reporters were granted access to Oppo’s manufacturing facility for an exclusive look at the production process, which highlights the company’s commitment to quality.

The Find N6 is the result of three years of development, during which Oppo created numerous working prototypes. As part of its manufacturing enhancements, the company has refined its assembly workflow to include multiple inspection stages. Each component is fitted with a remarkable precision of 0.03mm, a factor that Oppo emphasizes as crucial for minimizing visible folding marks on the internal screen.

Durability and Performance Testing

Crease depth in foldable smartphones can increase over time due to repeated usage. To tackle this issue, Oppo has implemented automated stress testing, wherein devices are folded and unfolded a staggering 300,000 times. During the factory visit, one handset had already completed 170,000 cycles, yet observers noted that the crease remained challenging to detect under normal viewing conditions.

In addition to in-house evaluations, the Find N6 has reportedly excelled in independent assessments conducted by TÜV Rheinland, achieving top marks for display quality. The device is said to feature one of the flattest screens observed in a foldable smartphone to date, further enhancing its appeal.

Specifications and Market Expectations

Industry leaks suggest that the Find N6 will showcase an inner display measuring 8.12 inches, complemented by a 6.62-inch outer cover screen. While final specifications remain unconfirmed, the smartphone is rumored to include a quad-camera system developed in collaboration with Hasselblad, highlighting a robust 200MP primary sensor.

Powering the Find N6 is anticipated to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with a substantial 6,000mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging. Although Australian pricing has yet to be announced, it is expected that the Find N6 will launch above A$2,000 based on the pricing trends of previous models in the series.

As the release date approaches, Oppo’s commitment to innovation and quality in the foldable smartphone market continues to capture attention, setting high expectations for the Find N6’s performance and design.
