UPDATE: The annual Bigger Boobie Ball in Busselton has just concluded, raising an impressive $60,000 for Breast Cancer Care WA. This vibrant event, held on November 8, 2023, at Sabina River Farm, has now contributed a remarkable total of $150,000 since its inception three years ago.
The atmosphere was electric, drenched in pink, as attendees enjoyed a unique mix of entertainment and heartfelt storytelling, all in support of a cause that touches many lives. Guests participated in a memorable round of golf at the farm’s dam, featuring two giant inflatable breasts as targets, while indulging in a variety of food and drinks, live performances, and a lively auction showcasing donations from local businesses.
Established by Sidekick Events co-organizers Heather Hunt and Carol Smith, the event began as the “Big Boobie Bash” in 2021 to celebrate Smith’s five-year cancer milestone. “Carol wanted to have a party and dye her hair pink. The community loved the Big Boobie Bash, and they asked for a ball to keep the fun going,” Hunt explained.
The sense of community was palpable, with local caterers, entertainers, and suppliers contributing their services at reduced rates or donating them entirely, while the venue was provided free of charge. “The community we live in is just incredible, with what people contribute, even down to the decorations,” Hunt noted.
Attendees were moved by guest speakers, including members of the Shitty Titty Committee, a South West breast cancer support group. Each speaker rang a commemorative bell, celebrating their journeys and resilience.
“We sell out every year, and we’re already planning for next year,” Hunt confirmed. “As soon as we have the date, we will start selling tickets to ensure everyone can prepare.”
This event not only highlights the generous spirit of Busselton but also underscores the ongoing need for support in the fight against breast cancer. As fundraising efforts continue, the Bigger Boobie Ball remains a beacon of hope and community spirit.
