Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke revealed plans to grant authorities enhanced powers to revoke visas for individuals spreading hate. “We have no time for organizations that promote division and hate against fellow Australians,” he declared, emphasizing a shift in policy that seeks to hold such groups accountable.
The Australian Federal Police have also charged a man from Bonnyrigg with 59 offences, including committing a terrorist act and multiple counts of murder. Commissioner Krissy Barrett stated that the AFP is actively investigating individuals labeled as hate preachers, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by those who spread division and fear.
Albanese acknowledged that while more could have been done historically, the government is now taking decisive action. “What we need to do is move forward. We have taken action, and we will continue to do more,” he promised, reiterating his support for the Jewish community during this challenging time.
