URGENT UPDATE: The final design for the Mount Victoria Memorial Park playspace has just been revealed, with construction set to kick off on August 25, 2025. This $1 million project, funded by the federal government, aims to transform the park into a more welcoming and inclusive space for the community.
Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, emphasized that this investment is crucial for enhancing the experience for locals of all ages. “This project will not only improve the playspace but also create a destination that encourages visitors to stop and enjoy Mount Victoria,” she stated.
The Blue Mountains Mayor, Mark Greenhill, highlighted the importance of community involvement in the design process. “We received feedback from a wide range of community members, and that’s what shaped the outcome,” he said. “We’ve included ideas for improved accessibility and play features suitable for various ages and abilities.”
Construction will temporarily close the playspace, turning it into a construction zone. In response to community feedback, the existing swing set near the car park will remain accessible during this phase. While the designs are nearly finalized, there is still room for minor adjustments prior to construction.
Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and stay updated on the project by visiting yoursay.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/mount-victoria-park before August 21, 2025. This redevelopment is a significant step towards fostering a vibrant community space that caters to everyone.
Stay tuned for more updates as construction approaches!
