UPDATE: The Golden Highway is currently shut in both directions due to a serious two-vehicle crash that occurred just east of Dubbo. Emergency services responded to the incident around 11:00 AM on December 19, 2025, near Beni, located approximately 15 kilometers east of Dubbo.
Travelers are advised that the highway is blocked between Beni Road and Barbigal Road, causing significant disruptions. This incident is separate from an earlier three-vehicle crash at Beni Street, which had closed the Mitchell Highway between 8:45 AM and 11:00 AM on the same day.
Authorities warn that motorists in the area should anticipate an additional 60 minutes of travel time. Transport for NSW has implemented diversions for eastbound traffic, directing drivers to use Barbigal Road, Mitchell Highway, and Saxa Road. Westbound motorists can divert via Muronbung Road, Saxa Road, and the Mitchell Highway. These alternate routes are suitable for all vehicles, including B Doubles.
Emergency crews and traffic management personnel are on-site managing the situation. Motorists operating Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles under a Notice are advised to consult their enforceable network maps for alternative routes, while those with permits must adhere to their approved routes unless explicit updates are provided by the NHVR.
Stay tuned for further updates as this situation develops. Motorists should exercise caution and expect delays in the region.
