Leongatha Announces $250,000 for New Training Lights, Prepares for Grand Final

URGENT UPDATE: The Leongatha Football Netball Club has just announced a major development ahead of the Gippsland League grand final on Saturday. A significant allocation of $250,000 has been secured for new training lights at Parrot Park, with the club contributing $50,000 to the project.

The announcement was made Thursday night, creating excitement among players and fans as the club prepares for the highly anticipated finale at Morwell. South Gippsland Mayor Cr John Schelling and Cr Clare Williams were present, alongside Leongatha FNC vice president Al Fixter, who have all been instrumental in securing this funding alongside Labor Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh.

“We wouldn’t have gotten this funding without our persistent efforts,” stated Cr Williams during the training session. The mayor emphasized the importance of supporting local sporting clubs, especially leading up to critical events like this. “Our football-netball clubs play a vital role in their communities,” Cr Schelling remarked.

In addition to the funding announcement, the club also revealed its teams for the grand final. Leongatha made two key changes to their lineup that previously defeated Traralgon in the Qualifying Final. Onballer Luke Bowman will return after recovering from injury, while former premiership defender Jackson Harry also makes his comeback following a serious knee injury.

In contrast, Traralgon will maintain a stable lineup, making only one change from their successful outing against Moe last week. Tate Marsh replaces Peter Strong in the squad.

The action kicks off at Morwell at 8:30 AM on Saturday, with Leongatha’s Under 13 netball team competing first, followed by the main event between Leongatha and Traralgon at 2:30 PM.

This is a defining moment for the Leongatha Football Netball Club, combining a promising future with the excitement of potential victory on the grand stage. Fans are eager to see if their team can clinch the championship, adding to the thrill of the new training lights announcement.

Stay tuned for live updates as the grand final approaches!
