Telethon 2025 Shatters Records with $90.16 Million for Kids

UPDATE: Telethon 2025 has achieved a staggering record of $90,160,275 raised over the weekend, demonstrating the immense spirit of the Western Australian community. This extraordinary amount surpasses last year’s total of $83,264,216 and brings the total fundraising since Telethon’s inception in 1968 to over $750 million.

The funds raised will directly benefit sick and disadvantaged children, ensuring they receive life-changing treatments and support. Telethon chairman Richard Goyder expressed gratitude for the community’s commitment, stating, “Every dollar that this amazing community contributes goes to the people who need it in Western Australia.”

The broadcast culminated in a powerful moment when Kerry Stokes, chairman of Seven West Media, along with his wife Christine Simpson-Stokes, announced a personal donation of $5 million. Stokes assured viewers that the funds would be allocated immediately to support necessary programs starting at 9 o’clock tomorrow morning.

Over a remarkable 26-hour broadcast filled with joy, entertainment, and community spirit, the Telethon showcased heartfelt stories, including that of five-year-old Izzy Miller, who celebrated a new backyard home thanks to the Build Now Foundation after her battle with neuroblastoma. The emotional atmosphere was palpable as families shared tears and laughter throughout the event.

“You made her feel special, important, and seen,” read a moving letter from Jo Wagner about her late daughter, highlighting the profound impact Telethon has had on families.

Major corporate donations poured in, including $5.5 million from BHP, and $6 million from the Federal Government, announced by Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles. The State Government also broke records with a contribution of $14 million, pushing the total well beyond last year’s figures.

WA Premier Roger Cook praised the community’s effort, stating, “There’s just a general vibe in the community that everyone’s going to get on board. There is nothing like this in Australia.”

Telethon’s success was not only measured in dollars but also in the stories of resilience shared by brave children like Edward and Ethan Chen, and Hemi Andrews, who have faced severe health challenges yet continue to inspire those around them.

The event concluded with the sale of the Telethon home in Madora Bay for $1.375 million, further contributing to the total raised. The community’s dedication was evident as volunteers, businesses, and families came together to support this noble cause.

The heartwarming stories, coupled with the overwhelming support from the public, underscore Telethon’s legacy as a beacon of hope for countless families. This year’s record-breaking achievement is not just a testament to fundraising but a celebration of community unity.
