URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated annual sunflower spectacle at the picturesque Timmering farm in Victoria is set to open its gates this February, welcoming visitors to revel in a breathtaking display of over 420,000 sunflowers. Adam and Claira Whipp, the dedicated couple behind this blooming delight, are eager to share their golden wonderland with families and friends, creating joyful memories.
With 12 hectares of vibrant sunflowers, the Whipps cultivate 35,000 seeds per hectare every year, transforming their farm into a stunning landscape. “We do it every year just to bring some joy to families and friends,” Adam stated. “They can come out, take some photos and play in the sunflowers for an hour or so.”
The farm opens on weekends in February, coinciding with the sunflowers’ peak bloom. Visitors can immerse themselves in a sea of golden petals, capture Instagram-worthy moments, and even pick their own sunflowers to take home. This experience has become a favorite among locals and tourists alike, drawing hundreds from across Victoria, including Melbourne, Gippsland, and Ballarat.
As part of the Sunflowers of Timmering experience, Claira utilizes her photography skills to offer sunset photoshoots for families, couples, and friends when the sunflowers are at their most stunning. The couple acknowledges that while cultivating sunflowers presents challenges, the smiles and wonder on visitors’ faces make every effort worthwhile.
The exact opening dates in February are contingent on farming conditions and will be confirmed closer to the time. For the latest updates on opening dates and entry fees, check the Sunflowers of Timmering Facebook and Instagram pages.
