UPDATE: A 74-year-old man has tragically died while cutting wood on a property in Eurongilly, located between Junee and Nangus. Authorities from the Riverina Police District were alerted when the man failed to return home after heading out for firewood earlier today.
The man set out at approximately 9 am on November 4, but by 6 pm, a concerned member of the public discovered him and immediately contacted emergency services. Despite the prompt response from NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officials have stated that the cause of death remains unknown, although it has been confirmed that he was not found beneath a fallen tree. A report is currently being prepared for the coroner to investigate further into the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
