As a cornerstone of the Central Highlands Regional Council’s ‘Art Attack!’ calendar, these awards draw participants from both local and national artist communities. The event, scheduled for August 2025, features a diverse exhibition highlighting works across seven categories, including easel works, photography, and digital art.

Artists of all levels—whether seasoned professionals or emerging talents—are encouraged to submit their pieces before the extended deadline. This is a unique opportunity to have your work recognized and celebrated by the wider community.

The competition boasts substantial prizes: a $750 first prize and a $250 second prize are available in each main category, which include:

  • Category one: Easel-based works
  • Category two: Works on paper
  • Category three: Three-dimensional and fibre works
  • Category four: Photography
  • Category five: Digital art
  • Category six: Youth ages 13-18 (any medium)
  • Category seven: Junior ages 12 and under (any medium)

Young artists are particularly encouraged to participate, with dedicated youth categories offering prizes of $150 for first place and $50 for second. Notably, two prestigious titles will be awarded during the exhibition: the Central Highlands Regional Council Acquisitive Award for the most outstanding overall work, and the Local Artist Award, celebrating regional talent.

The awards night promises to be a highlight of the Central Highlands social calendar, inviting attendees to enjoy an engaging evening at the gallery. Guests can mingle over drinks and platters while casting their votes for the People’s Choice Award online via Have Your Say Central Highlands.
