Urgent Update: Boating Accident Injures Two in Gannawarra

UPDATE: A serious boating accident on the Gunbower Creek in Gannawarra has left two individuals with significant injuries. The incident occurred on December 11, 2025, prompting an immediate response from the Marine Investigation Unit based in Melbourne, who are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Emergency services reported that the male driver of the boat was urgently flown to a nearby Melbourne hospital for treatment. Further details regarding the second victim have not yet been disclosed, but the situation highlights the growing concerns over boating safety in the region.

Meanwhile, authorities are also addressing a series of thefts in the area. Between November 30 and December 2, offenders allegedly accessed a property on Lower Loddon Road in Kerang, stealing valuable items including a generator, a 9-inch angle grinder, cordless drills, and a compressor. This incident is part of a troubling pattern of crime affecting local businesses and residences.

In a separate theft, a vintage sign from “Olympic Tyres” was stolen from a business on High Street, Charlton between December 5 and December 6. Authorities report that an angle grinder was used to remove the sign, raising concerns about the methods employed by thieves in the area.

Additionally, a burglary on Yeungroon-Woosang Road occurred between November 29 and December 1, where offenders broke into an office space and stole keys to a white Ford Ranger ute, which was subsequently taken from the premises.

In another alarming incident, tools worth thousands were taken from a vehicle parked at accommodations off the Murray Valley Highway in Swan Hill during the night of December 2. The stolen items included a Milwaukee impact driver, multitool, circular saw, and various batteries.

As investigations continue, local authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The community is urged to prioritize safety and security as these incidents unfold.

Expect further updates as the situation develops.
