URGENT UPDATE: RACV has launched an immediate call for Victorians to participate in the Home Safety Pulse survey, aiming to gauge feelings of safety within homes and communities. This initiative comes on the heels of alarming statistics showing over 483,500 criminal incidents reported in Victoria over the past year, prompting a crucial need for community input.
The survey, which takes less than five minutes to complete, is designed to capture how safe residents feel in their neighborhoods and identify what influences these perceptions. Liz Carey, RACV General Manager Corporate Affairs, emphasized the survey’s importance, stating, “We know that many factors can affect how safe people feel – from home security technology, being aware of local crime rates, or simply the strength of community connection.”
This survey is particularly relevant as crime rates in Victoria have reached record highs, making it imperative for residents to voice their experiences. The findings will be shared with local government bodies to inform crime prevention programs and broader state-wide strategies aimed at enhancing safety and reducing home-related crime.
Victorians can contribute their insights through the RACV’s “Have Your Say” webpage before the survey closes in January 2026. All responses are anonymous, ensuring that participant information remains confidential and will not be used for marketing or insurance purposes.
The 2025 Home Safety Pulse survey follows a previous survey in 2023, which gathered perspectives from over 7,000 Victorians about their safety perceptions. This ongoing dialogue aims to build a clearer picture of how safety perceptions vary across neighborhoods and how they have evolved over the last two years.
RACV is committed to developing tangible programs that provide real support to the people of Victoria. “We are interested in actionable insights that can lead to effective safety measures,” Ms. Carey added, urging all Victorians to take part in this vital conversation.
