UPDATE: A woman has been arrested following a wild joyride in a stolen BMW that ended with a dramatic police pursuit in Adelaide. The incident unfolded just after 8 PM on Friday when authorities received reports of a blue BMW driving away from a service station in Croydon Park without paying for petrol.
The BMW returned to the service station shortly after, but the attendant refused to turn on the pumps, instead alerting the police. By 9:15 PM, a police helicopter had tracked the vehicle to Enfield, leading officers to pursue it into the city. The joyride concluded at Vinrace Street, where police swiftly arrested the driver, a 36-year-old woman from Henley Beach South.
Authorities confirm that the woman has been charged with illegal use of a vehicle and driving without a license. She has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on September 17, 2023. Meanwhile, the stolen BMW was towed from the scene for forensic examination.
This incident highlights the growing concerns about vehicle thefts and joyrides in urban areas, raising questions about security measures at service stations. Police continue to investigate the matter, and the community is urged to report any suspicious activity.
