Dolly Parton Reassures Fans: “I Ain’t Dead Yet” After Health Concerns

Legendary country singer Dolly Parton has reassured her fans that she is alive and well, following a wave of concern sparked by a prayer request from her sister, Freida Parton. In a video shared on social media, Parton declared, “I ain’t dead yet,” responding to the alarm caused by Freida’s statement that she had “been up all night praying” for her sister’s health. The video was posted on October 9, 2023, just one day after Freida’s message raised eyebrows.

Parton had previously disclosed on September 29 that she was facing some health challenges, resulting in the postponement of six shows. In her recent video update, she expressed gratitude for the concern and prayers from her fans, stating, “I know lately, everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you?”

While she acknowledged that she is dealing with some health issues, Parton emphasized that she is not in critical condition. “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease,” she said, thanking fans for their support and stating, “I appreciate your prayers because I’m a person of faith.”

The iconic singer explained that her current health difficulties require her to remain closer to home for treatments. She recalled a time of personal struggle following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82. “Back when my husband Carl was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself,” she reflected.

Freida Parton later took to Facebook to clarify her earlier comments, expressing her gratitude to those who had offered prayers while also stating, “I didn’t mean to scare anyone.” She explained that her intentions were simply those of a concerned sister asking for support for her sibling.

In her earlier announcements regarding health issues, Parton humorously referred to her need for medical procedures, likening it to a “100,000-mile check-up.” She noted that her doctors advised her of the necessary steps for her well-being, although she was quick to clarify that it was not a visit to her plastic surgeon.

Earlier in September, the country star had to miss the unveiling of a new ride at her theme park, Dollywood, due to a kidney stone infection. Following that incident, she has been more open about her health status, aiming to keep her fans informed while dispelling any rumors regarding her condition.

As Parton continues to navigate her health challenges, she remains a beloved figure in the music industry, known for her resilience and connection with fans. With her characteristic humor and warmth, she reassures everyone that she is still very much a part of the world.
