A popular dining establishment, Sunrise Bistro, is poised to expand its reach by opening a new location in Goose Creek, South Carolina, this winter. The bistro, known for its comfort food, will occupy the site formerly home to Bangkok Restaurant at 216 St. James Avenue. This strategic move is part of the bistro’s growth across the Lowcountry, according to restaurant broker Mike Santos of The Commonwealth Company.
Brian Appelt, the owner of Sunrise Bistro, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture. “It’s a good location—St. James Avenue. St. James Place used to be there, and that was a breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot as well,” he stated. Appelt noted that the decision to open in Goose Creek was driven by the area’s significant growth and the absence of a Sunrise Bistro location there.
The new restaurant will feature a spacious interior of 2,580 square feet, designed to create a welcoming atmosphere. Patrons will easily spot the restaurant, thanks to a bold, black sign illuminated with halo lighting.
Menu Highlights and Design Features
Sunrise Bistro is celebrated for its hearty breakfast offerings, and the Goose Creek location will showcase a menu filled with signature dishes. Breakfast highlights include the Hungry Howie plate, Nancy’s French Toast, and the French Toast Sandwich. For those seeking larger portions, options like the Country Fried Steak Plate, Enchilada Rancheros, and a loaded Breakfast Burrito will be available. The menu also features classic Southern flavors such as the Grits Bowl and housemade corned beef hash.
Lunch selections promise to be equally enticing, with standout items including the Basil Bacon Grilly Cheese, corned beef Reuben, and the Chicken Philly. Seafood lovers can enjoy the Sunrise Po’ Boy, fish and shrimp platter, and crab cake sandwich. For lighter fare, guests may opt for the Bistro House Salad or the Strawberry Goat Cheese Salad.
The interior design is set to be vibrant and inviting, highlighted by a mural of the Sunrise Bistro brand along one wall. “I’m excited about bringing our local vibe to different towns. It’s great to see the communities that we build in each of our locations,” Appelt remarked.
Future Plans and Location Growth
Since its inception in 2009, Sunrise Bistro has successfully opened multiple locations in Mount Pleasant, Johns Island, downtown Charleston, and Summerville. As for the Goose Creek location, the team has not yet announced a specific opening date, but they are aiming for late December 2023 or early January 2024.
For those interested in updates regarding the opening, further information can be found on the Sunrise Bistro website and their social media platforms.
With this expansion, Sunrise Bistro looks to continue its tradition of providing comfort food in a friendly atmosphere, further enriching the culinary landscape of the Lowcountry.
