Narromine Man Pleads Guilty to 2024 Teen Murder, Faces Sentencing

UPDATE: In a shocking turn of events, 27-year-old Anthony Facchi has pleaded guilty to the murder of a 16-year-old boy during a hearing at the Supreme Court in Sydney on November 28, 2024. This plea comes just days after Facchi maintained his not guilty stance in court, marking a dramatic shift in this high-profile case.

The stabbing occurred on April 26, 2024, on Nymagee Street in Narromine. Emergency services responded to a dire situation around 9 PM that evening, where paramedics attempted to save the boy after he suffered a fatal neck injury. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to Dubbo Airport.

Following the incident, police swiftly established a crime scene and launched an investigation that led to Facchi’s arrest at a nearby residence. He was charged with murder, along with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and using a weapon to intimidate another victim.

Facchi’s legal journey has been tumultuous. Initially appearing in Dubbo Local Court, he refused to enter a plea, resulting in a not guilty plea being entered on his behalf on December 5, 2024. However, after further negotiations, he agreed to plead guilty to the murder charge and one count of assault against another victim, while the other charges were dropped in exchange for this plea.

In a previous court appearance, Facchi made headlines with an emotional and expletive-laden outburst, claiming the victim attempted to rob him. “If this happened to you, they’d be writing it off as youth crime, but because it happened to someone with a criminal record, they’ve called me a murderer,” he stated, expressing his controversial viewpoint on the case.

Facchi’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 2, 2026, at the Supreme Court in Dubbo. As this case unfolds, the community remains on edge, grappling with the implications of youth violence and the judicial system’s handling of such tragic incidents.
