A new coffee shop, named Desert Kid Coffee, is set to open in Palm Desert, California, by the end of December 2023. The establishment will occupy a 5,402-square-foot space located at 44850 San Pablo Avenue, a site that is undergoing significant renovations. Local resident and co-founder Katie Reed confirmed the plans in a statement to What Now OC, noting that construction work is expected to be completed by mid-November.
The property, originally built in 1955, is currently being transformed by Orr Builders. This site is strategically positioned within the retail corridor of San Pablo Avenue, which recently received an investment of $8.5 million aimed at revitalizing the area. The location includes ten dedicated parking spots, enhancing accessibility for future customers.
Reed, who grew up in the Coachella Valley, is enthusiastic about her venture back to her hometown. Prior to launching Desert Kid Coffee, she built a successful career in the tech and healthcare industries, after starting her professional journey at local establishments such as Outback Steakhouse and Mikado Sushi Japanese Restaurant. Her return marks a significant personal milestone, as she aims to contribute to the local community through this new business.
As construction progresses, the anticipation surrounding Desert Kid Coffee continues to grow. Reed’s vision for the coffee shop reflects a blend of her local roots and her professional expertise, promising to offer a unique experience for residents and visitors alike. The community is eager to welcome this new addition to Palm Desert’s vibrant coffee scene.
