Apple Martin Emphasizes Work Ethic Taught by Parents

Apple Martin, the daughter of renowned musician Chris Martin and actress Gwyneth Paltrow, has spoken candidly about her upbringing and the values instilled in her by her famous parents. In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the 21-year-old emphasized that her parents ensured she does not feel entitled to her privileges.

Apple, who is currently studying law, history, and society at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, shared that her upbringing focused on a strong work ethic. She stated, “I constantly remind myself how grateful I am to have these opportunities. I know this is not a normal way to grow up by any means. But my parents did a really good job of instilling in me that I shouldn’t be entitled to anything. I have to work.”

This commitment to hard work is evident in Apple’s career pursuits. She has recently collaborated with Self Portrait for a new fashion campaign. Additionally, she has made appearances for Chanel at Paris Fashion Week and posed alongside her mother for a GapStudio campaign. By the age of 16, Apple had already begun her journey into the workforce, taking a job in a clothing store.

In a 2020 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Martin expressed pride in his daughter’s initiative, saying, “It’s her first job, and she’s about to be 16 and she’s making her way in the world and I’m so proud of her.”

Despite her achievements, Apple strives for a regular college experience. She mentioned, “Hanging out with my friends and trying to have a normal college experience makes me feel more normal.” Apple enjoys unwinding with friends through music sessions and watching reality television. She fondly recalled a day spent on the couch, immersed in old episodes of America’s Next Top Model.

Apple Martin’s journey reflects a blend of privilege and grounding, showcasing how her parents’ values have shaped her approach to life and work. As she navigates the challenges of academia and early career opportunities, her commitment to hard work and gratitude remains at the forefront.
