The Central Coast is set to enhance its reputation as a breeding ground for musical talent with the introduction of the Echo mentorship program. This initiative, launched by the Central Coast Music and Arts (CCMA), aims to support emerging musicians and artist managers from the region. The program will run from March to June 2026, providing professional development opportunities for local creatives.
The Echo mentorship program is designed specifically for musicians and artist managers who are eager to advance their careers. It will offer four mentorship positions to individuals who exhibit a clear career trajectory and a commitment to their craft. Over the course of four months, participants will receive guidance from established professionals in the music industry through structured one-on-one and group sessions.
Lou Sawilejskij, executive director of CCMA, emphasized the program’s goal: “Echo is about amplifying local talent and helping Central Coast musicians and artist managers build meaningful connections and confidence to thrive in the industry.” The mentorship will kick off with an in-person group meeting scheduled for February 20, 2026, in Gosford. This will be followed by four tailored one-hour sessions, which can be conducted either online or in person.
Funding for the Echo mentorship program comes from the NSW Government through the Sound NSW initiative. Aspiring participants must submit their applications by 5 pm on December 1, 2025. Notifications to applicants will be sent out in late January 2026. To qualify, applicants need to be at least 18 years old, reside in the Central Coast, and have a minimum of three years of experience in writing and performing music, including releasing recorded material.
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of music industry professionals based on several criteria, including musical talent, professional potential, and commitment to the program. The CCMA strongly encourages submissions from First Nations people, individuals with disabilities, culturally diverse artists, women, and non-binary individuals who are passionate about their music careers.
To apply, candidates must complete the Echo Artist Questionnaire and provide examples of their recorded music. Detailed information regarding the Echo mentorship program, including links to the application forms, can be found at www.centralcoastmusicarts.com.
With this initiative, the Central Coast continues to solidify its status as a vibrant hub for musical innovation and creativity, fostering the next generation of artists ready to make their mark on the industry.
