Pop artist Chappell Roan has announced that funds generated from her participation in the upcoming Laneway Festival will be donated to two prominent Australian transgender organizations: Transcend Australia and Transgender Victoria. This initiative is part of Roan’s broader mission through her charity, The Midwest Princess Project, which aims to uplift transgender youth and LGBTQ+ communities.
Launched in October 2023, The Midwest Princess Project emphasizes action, care, and connection, with Roan stating that the organization was created to provide essential support and resources for marginalized communities. The project is named after her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Roan expressed her commitment to donating every dollar raised to organizations that significantly impact the lives of trans youth.
Festival Contribution and Community Impact
During the festival’s Australian tour in February 2026, $1 from each ticket sold will contribute to the initiative, with the funds directly supporting the two selected organizations. “We have committed to donating every dollar possible to the organizations that need it most,” Roan stated on social media.
The Laneway Festival, which celebrates its 21st anniversary in 2026, has partnered with the Midwest Princess Project to highlight the importance of allyship in the music and arts community. The festival’s social media accounts confirmed the collaboration, stating, “For 2026, we’re excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with Chappell Roan to support two local LGBTQ+ organizations.” This partnership illustrates how collective efforts can lead to meaningful support for vulnerable communities.
“Support like this changes lives,” said Susanne Prosser, CEO of Transcend Australia.
Both Transgender Victoria and Transcend Australia are recognized for their advocacy and support of trans and gender-diverse individuals. “Collaborations like this enable us to deliver critical support such as free peer navigation and gender affirmation workshops,” Prosser noted. This type of funding is vital for organizations that provide essential services, especially during times when many individuals feel isolated or under pressure.
Upcoming Festival Dates and Performers
The Laneway Festival will take place on the following dates:
- February 7, 2026 – Southport Sharks, Gold Coast
- February 8, 2026 – Centennial Park, Sydney
- February 13, 2026 – Flemington Park, Melbourne
- February 14, 2026 – Adelaide Showgrounds, Adelaide
- February 15, 2026 – Arena Joondalup, Perth
In addition to Roan, the festival will feature performances from artists such as PinkPantheress, Gigi Perez, and Cavetown, promising an exciting lineup for attendees.
The message of allyship and support resonates deeply within the LGBTQ+ community. “When artists of Chappell’s calibre stand with us, it reinforces what we tell young trans people every day: you are valued, you are seen,” Prosser added. “This kind of visible, joyful allyship tells trans and gender-diverse young people that they are not alone.” The partnership exemplifies how the arts can play a crucial role in advocating for social change and inclusion.
As the festival approaches, many are eager to see how the funds will impact the organizations and the communities they serve. The collaboration between Chappell Roan and the Laneway Festival not only raises important resources but also amplifies voices that deserve to be celebrated and supported.
