Kevin Spacey, the actor known for his role in *House of Cards*, is scheduled to face civil sex assault claims in London next year. A judge at the High Court has set a provisional trial date for October 12, 2026, where Spacey will respond to allegations made by three men who claim he assaulted them between 2000 and 2013. This legal action follows Spacey’s acquittal in 2023 on multiple criminal charges, including seven counts of sexual assault.
At a hearing on November 26, 2025, the judge discussed the possibility of hearing the claims in three consecutive trials. However, the accusers’ lawyer, Elizabeth-Anne Gumbel, has requested that the cases be consolidated into a single trial. This approach aims to minimize the emotional strain on the accusers and reduce the need for both the men and Spacey to testify multiple times.
Spacey has denied all allegations of wrongdoing. He has formally denied two of the claims and has yet to file a defense regarding the third accusation. The civil suits have been initiated by two of the same individuals who testified against him in the criminal trial. One of the accusers, identified only as LNP, alleges that Spacey “deliberately assaulted” him approximately twelve times between 2000 and 2005. Another accuser, known as GHI, claims to have suffered psychiatric damage and financial loss due to an alleged assault in 2008, which occurred after he met Spacey during a workshop at the Old Vic Theatre.
The third accuser, Ruari Cannon, has waived his right to anonymity and alleges that Spacey groped him at a party after a press night for the production *Sweet Bird of Youth* at the Old Vic in 2013. Cannon has also appeared in a documentary titled *Spacey Unmasked*, released in 2024. In response to these allegations, Spacey described Cannon’s claim as “ridiculous” and insisted it never occurred.
Spacey has addressed the ongoing allegations publicly. Following the release of the documentary, he stated on social media platform X that each time he has had the opportunity to defend himself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny. He emphasized that he had been “exonerated” in previous cases. While he has acknowledged being “too handsy” in the past, he firmly denies ever “groping” anyone.
As this civil case approaches, the legal proceedings are likely to draw significant media attention, given the high-profile nature of the actor and the serious nature of the allegations against him. The outcomes of these civil claims may further impact Spacey’s career and public image, as he continues to navigate the legal challenges stemming from accusations that have persisted over several years.
